You and the World

You-Are-The-Change.png

One of the interesting comments I get as a healer is in the form of a question. The question is, “What can I do to change the world?” In other words, a person is upset because they feel like they are not making enough of a difference in spite of all they do ‘for’ the world.

This goal of ‘changing the world’ is admirable and shows your commitment to impacting others in a positive way. Keep on doing that, keep on giving away your love, your smiles, and whatever forms you choose that make other’s lives and your own life better.

Do this, knowing this. That the world cannot change until you do. That the world will not change until you do first. That you cannot change the world, you can only change into a more nurturing you. And that more nurturing you needs to make certain that you get nurtured first. This is the only way to gather up enough momentum and energy to continue on making a difference. Whatever you do, you have to do so from the context of being the most powerful you that you can be. You expand, your influence expands, it’s as simple as that.

You make a difference, you expand, you give, because that’s at the core of who and what you are, not because you have the expectation that the world will appreciate it. Not because you have the expectation that the world will change. Because it won’t, and it can’t. But you can. And you can also appreciate yourself. You give, not to change the world, but so that whatever you perceive ‘the world’ to be does not change you. This is where your true power resides. In your unconditional love for yourself. When you unconditionally love yourself, and take care of yourself, you become so fulfilled that your satisfaction will naturally spill over to others. This will take any number of forms that resonate with you. Appreciate each one of them, and know their value.

Because that value? It’s you.
